Here are a few shots of some of the new work hanging in the gallery atm.
So happy to finally have the guts to paint some aircraft, something I have always wanted to do.

There are a couple more on the way but the cold weather is really slowing me down!

Thanks to all those who could attend the 'Myth and Magic' exhibition opening last night! Managed to get four paintings finished and hung, my best effort for quite some time!

June show

Have just been invited to participate in a couple of upcoming shows this year. The first is in June... better get cracking then!

Hybernatorium 1

A painting from the previous exhibition in Wellington (the Edward Hopper inspiration)

A bit of a change from my usual colourful palette!

I'm not sure what the reception to this painting was like at the opening, lets just say I have been informed that it has since seen a lot of head tilting and furrowed brows! =)


If you're interested,  this is the original work (Hotel by the Railroad) by the late Edward Hopper, I just like it, I guess.

Also, I've started to sign my paintings with my name, after years of stenciling 'SixHawks' across them when finished. Hopefully it wont confuse anyone!

Both made for my sister on her birthday =)

Both made from MLP's (Robin started life as 'Rarity' and Batman was 'Pinkie Pie' I think)

Been thinking a lot recently about what else to make in this genre, let me know if you have a suggestion! =)

New exhibition at the Tapu-te-Ranga gallery today, this time the theme is still life.

Didn't have the time to work up anything new for this one unfortunately, but I do have a piece ready that has never been shown at the gallery so up it goes!

A picture lasts longer

Hey,

After a brief rummage through some old negs I thought I might share a few of my favourite shots from years ago.

Always liked this one, can't believe it never made it up.
There was always something addictive about shooting portraits for me, something a bit invasive at times and then melancholy at others. Sometimes it just felt like the most natural thing in the world.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year... and back to it!

Hey, hope the festive season was good to everyone. Here's to a challenge in the new year, lots of sweat, tears and accomplishments.

Something a bit new to bring in 2014, hopefully I'll have the time to do plenty more!

A present for my little sister at Christmas, She seemed to really like it (even exclaiming "did you make it?" which is very flattering) Maybe I should do more?

New art has been requested at the gallery. Better get off my posterior and finish something!
